Sharing the Gospel and the High Tech World
This is an interesting article from May 1983, Baptist Bulletin. The first part is about sharing the Gospel the right and the wrong way. The second part is about the new High Technology era of lasers and genetic engineering. This was written pre-PCs and cell phones.
“As concerned human beings and U.S. citizens, we shall have a voice in the dawning age. In our role as Christians, our task will be the same as it is at present — witnessing for Christ to sinners who live in a high technology world. Eternal issues are not modified by computers and space vehicles.”

January 1981 – The increase of administrative laws and agencies. Seminaries and the 1980 St. Louis Southern Baptist convention resolution. The unwillingness to confirm the Scriptures as inerrant and infallible. Presbyterian church break over lax theological trends and a minister ordained who would not affirm the full deity of Christ.
Perspectives from 1980
During the early 80’s (1980-1983) my Grandfather, Dr. Woolsey, wrote a monthly column for the Baptist Bulletin, titled “Perspective.” He was not a prolific writer, so these comprise most of what I have of his writings.
I was too young to remember the early 80’s, but many of these topics are relevant even today. Some of the “current events” of yesteryear have come into partial or full fruition, and some are still being actively discussed as possibilities for our future. For example, in the section of his column from 1980 called “The Voices of Humanist Prophets,” he discusses the “First Global Conference on the Future” put on by the Canadian Futures Society and the World Future Society.
He concludes this section by saying, “The humanist idea that man can and should now take charge of the evolutionary process and create his own evolutionary future appears to have been the motivating force behind the conference. There is no doubt about it — humanism is on the march. This means a lot of trouble for God’s people.” How very true this statement is today and how much further we have progressed to that goal in the last 37 years.
